What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 (formally known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) is a California state law that requires businesses to provide warnings if their products may expose consumers to certain chemicals. The law covers over 900 substances found in everyday items such as food, household products, and clothing.

Why is a warning displayed on Gluten Free Meister products?

Rice, the main ingredient in our noodles, naturally absorbs trace amounts of arsenic from the soil and water where it is grown. This is not added during production — it is a naturally occurring element found in many grains and vegetables.

How safe are our products?

Our products meet international food safety standards, including those of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
However, Proposition 65 sets exposure limits that are much stricter than most international or federal standards. This means that even common foods like rice, fruits, or vegetables may require a warning in California.

Our Commitment

Gluten Free Meister is committed to following the laws of each region where our products are sold. This warning does not mean our noodles are unsafe. Instead, it reflects our compliance with California’s Proposition 65 and our commitment to transparency, so you can make informed choices with confidence.
